Description

The Chilton Socks are stylish and polished knit socks with a fold-over ruffle and a clean cabled design throughout the foot. They are knit from the top down starting with the ruffle, employing a traditional heel flap and gusset as well as an anatomical toe for a better fit.

  • 260 (350, 440) yards [240 (320, 400) meters] of fingering-weight yarn optionally held together with the same amount of lace-weight mohair yarn. Pictured sample used Madelinetosh Twist Light (75% merino wool, 25% nylon/polyamide) and Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair (70% mohair, 30% silk).

  • US 1.5 [2.5 mm] circular needles. Recommended cable length will vary depending on your preferred method for working in a small circumference. Note: You may need a longer length circular needle to work the ruffle which requires casting on a large number of stitches and decreasing rapidly.

32 sts and 44 rows in stockinette stitch to 4" [10 cm] on US 1.5 [2.5mm] needles or needles needed to obtain gauge, after blocking.
